Tri-State Fire Broadband Pager Alerting System

Franklin County, Massachusetts

Effective Jan. 1, 2021 alerting via text messages/emails will be discontinued.  Please read below.

When the Franklin County text alerting system was first established around 2010, the majority of users carried older style cell phones and text alerting allowed them to receive audio alerts on these phones, quite a feat at the time.

As times have progressed, nearly all subscribers now carry smart phones rather than the older style phones.  Also, to combat spam and unwanted text messages, the cell phone providers are continually changing their policies and spam filters making it increasingly difficult to ensure delivery of text messages from this system in a timely manner.

The alerting system now has two options for receiving alerts through apps rather than text messages.  For those agencies who are IamResponding subscribers, audio alerts are now available through your IamResponding app.  Look under Incidents/Audio Alerts.  To receive notifications through this system, your agency's IaR administrator needs to enable notifications through the IaR website.  Then you need to enable notifications in your app and set your preferences.  If you experience difficulties with the setup speak with your agency's IaR administrator or contact IamResponding for support.

For those agencies who do not subscribe to IaR and others who are not members of an agency, you can continue to receive your alerts via the Pushover App:

Download the PushOver app from either the App Store or Google Play.  It has a seven-day free trial and then costs $5 to purchase.  The advantages of this app is that you control your subscriptions (can subscribe and unsubscribe as much as you want), you can set up quiet hours, and you have a choice of alert sounds.

For more information and to subscribe please visit this page: PUSH NOTIFICATIONS

If you are a member of a Franklin County agency dispatched on the Simulcast 1 frequency and still rely on an older style cell phone to receive your alerts, have your chief contact me to make arrangements,  tristatettdalerts@gmail.com.

This system automatically converts pager notifications from the Simulcast1 system to audio recordings and delivers them to subscribers.

While all attempts have been made to ensure system reliability, this needs to be considered a secondary notification means.

You still need to carry your pager as your primary means of notification.
